Theodore Roosevelt National Park includes scenic badlands along the Little Missouri River and part of Theodore Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch.

Theodore Roosevelt NP was established as Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park April 25, 1947 and was redesignated Theodore Roosevelt National Park on November 10, 1978

Saguaro National Park preserves Giant saguaro cacti, that are unique to the Sonoran Desert, and cover the valley floor and rise into the neighboring mountains. Five biotic life zones are represented, from desert to ponderosa pine forest in Saguaro National Park’s Eastern Unit. There are also ancient petroglyphs. One of the best places to see petroglyphs is at the Signal Hill picnic area in Saguaro National Park Western Unit.

Saguaro NP was proclaimed Saguaro National Monument March 1, 1933; transferred from Forest Service, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Aug. 10, 1933; and redesignated as Saguaro National Park on October 4, 1994.

Rocky Mountain National Park’s rich scenery, typifying the massive grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, is accessible by Trail Ridge Road, which crosses the Continental Divide. Peaks towering over 14,000 feet shadow wildlife and wildflowers in these 415 square miles of the Rockies.

Rocky Mountain NP was established January 26, 1915. Rocky Mountain NP was designated a Biosphere Reserve in 1976.

Redwood National Park preserves Coastal redwood forests with virgin groves of ancient trees, including the world’s tallest, thrive in the foggy and temperate climate. The park includes 40 miles of scenic Pacific coastline.

Redwood NP was established on October 2, 1968. Redwood NP was designated a World Heritage Site September. 2, 1980 and made a Biosphere Reserve in 1983.

Petrified Forest National Park features petrified logs composed of multicolored quartz; shortgrass prairie; part of the Painted Desert; and archeological, paleontological, historic, and cultural resources.

Petrified Forest was proclaimed Petrified Forest National Monument on December 8, 1906; and redesignated Petrified Forest National Park on December 9, 1962.
