Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree National Park encompasses a representative stand of Joshua trees and a great variety of plants and animals that exist in this desert region.
Joshua Tree was made a national monument on August 10, 1936; and redesignated as Joshua Tree National Park on October 31, 1994. Joshua Tree was designated a Biosphere Reserve in 1984.
Total Acreage: 789,745, Federal: 769,175, Nonfederal: 20,570.
Joshua Tree is located in southwestern California about 30 miles outside of Palm Springs and around 140 miles east of Los Angeles.
